Tungnath Trek

Tungnath can be visited comfortably as a single, satisfying day trip from Chopta, the well-maintained stone-paved pilgrim trail making steady, sustained progress through forest that shifts noticeably in character as height is gained. The lower stretch runs through thick rhododendron, a riot of colour during the spring blooming season and a simple, quiet green canopy for the rest of the year, before giving way to increasingly stunted birch as the trail approaches the treeline proper.
